AMELIA EARHART FELLOWSHIP

The Amelia Earhart Fellowship is awarded annually to women pursuing Ph.d/doctoral degrees in aerospace-related sciences and aerospace-related engineering.

The Fellowship of $10,000 awarded to 35 Fellows around the globe each year may be used at any university or college offering accredited post-graduate courses and degrees in these fields.

Applications for the Fellowships must be received or post-marked by November 15 to be considered. Applications that are incomplete or late due to postal delays will not be considered. For questions, please contact programs@zonta.org.

The Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship Committee reviews the applications and recommends recipients to the Zonta International Board of Directors.  All applicants will be notified of their status by the end of April.

BUNNY TYLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Zonta Club of the Black Hills established the Bunny Tyler Memorial Scholarship for Women in Business in remembrance of local business woman and volunteer Dorothy “Bunny” Tyler.  Bunny and her husband owned and operated National Van Lines and Black Hills Mayflower Moving and Storage.

Bunny was very active in many Rapid City organizations, including Zonta Club of the Black Hills, SCORE, Toastmasters and Business & Professional Women.  She served as Governor of District 12 of Zonta International.  Bunny actively advocated for advancing the status of women.

A strong and successful business woman, dedicated and compassionate volunteer and proud, loving mother and grandmother, Bunny’s legacy lives on in this $500.00 scholarship funded by her family, friends and sister Zontians.  Donations can be sent to Zonta Club of the Black Hills, PO Box 8163, Rapid City, SD  57709

The Bunny Tyler Memorial Scholarship for Women in Business is awarded to a non-traditional (24 years or older) woman enrolled in a two or four year university/college accredited business undergraduate or MBA program.  She must demonstrate outstanding potential in the business field and dedicate time and service to her community.

YOUNG WOMEN IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS AWARD

The Young Women in Public Affairs Award honors young women of age 16 to 19, who demonstrate a commitment to leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organizations.

Zonta Club of the Black Hills offers a scholarship of $500 at the local level.  Zonta International offers scholarships of $1,000 each at the District level and twelve scholarships in the amount of $3,000 each at the International level.

Women of any nationality who are students of age 16-19, living or studying in a Zonta district/region at the time of application, are not a Zontian, are not a Zonta employee, are not related to a Zontian, are not related to a Zonta employee and who demonstrate evidence of the following are eligible to apply:

  • Active commitment to volunteerism
  • Experience in local or student government
  • Volunteer leadership achievements
  • Knowledge of Zonta International and its programs
  • Advocating in Zonta International’s mission of advancing the status of women worldwide

The local Zonta Club Evaluation Committee will consider applications and select the club awardee.  Her application will be sent to the Zonta District Governors/Region South America Representative.  A District/Region Evaluation Committee selects one applicant per district/region to submit to Zonta International Headquarters.  The Zonta International YWPA Committee recommends ten International Recipients from the District/Region applications to the Zonta International Board.  After approval by the Zonta International Board, the Zonta International Foundation provides awards and certificates to the District/Region and International recipients.

JANE M. KLAUSMAN WOMEN IN BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships are awarded to women undertaking business studies who have demonstrated outstanding potential in the field.

Zonta Club of the Black Hills offers a scholarship of $500 at the local level.  The applications of local winners go to District 12 and are judged by a committee of District Zontians. The winner receives $1,000.00.  That application then goes to Zonta International where the winner receives $5,000.00. 

The scholarships may be used at any university, college or institute offering accredited courses and degrees.  Previous International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship recipients may not apply to renew the Scholarship.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Be undertaking a business and/or business-related program at an accredited university/college/institute.
  • Enrolled in at least the second year of an undergraduate program through the final year of a Master’s program at the time the application is submitted (applicants must still be attending school to receive this scholarship.)
  • Achieved an outstanding academic record during her academic studies, including business-related subjects.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ambition and commitment to pursuing a career in business.
  • Living or studying in a Zonta district/region.

WESTERN DAKOTA TECH ZONTA CLUB OF THE BLACK HILLS SCHOLARSHIP FOR WOMEN IN NON-TRADITIONAL FIELDS

The $1,000 Western Dakota Tech Zonta Club of the Black Hills Scholarship for Women in Non-Traditional Fields originated through the Zonta Expo grants program.

Applicants must be a female student in one of the following Western Dakota Tech programs:  Transportation Technology, Collision Repair, Computer-Aided Drafting, Computer Science, Electrical Trades, Environmental Engineering, Fire Science, Law Enforcement Technology or Welding.

To apply, visit the Western Dakota Tech website or contact a guidance counselor at the school.  

DEADLINE is October 15n and submit per directions on the application no later than October 15.

WOMEN IN STEM SCHOLARSHIP

The Zonta International Women in STEM Scholarship encourages women to pursue education, career opportunities and leadership roles in STEM fields.

The program operates at the Zonta club, district/region and international levels. Each Zonta district/region may submit one applicant for consideration for an international scholarship. A single candidate from each of Zonta’s 31 districts and one region will receive an award of US$5,000 from Zonta International.
